Lulu Yang hails from the southwestern region of inland China, The humid and foggy environment of her hometown and her experience of growing up in a factory district have led her to focus on the culture of China’s counties and the social issues of the working class.LuLu employs fashion design as the primary medium for her creative expression, which she honed during her five-year tenure at CSM and through her personal experiences. Her unique approach is informed by her multicultural background, having lived in both London and Chengdu, navigating the realms of first-tier cities and remote counties. This rich tapestry of experiences enables her to meld various media (clothing, painting, experimental video, performance, installation, and text) with a coherent sensibility, breaking away from traditional methods reliant on second-hand imagery.
Her expertise lies in crafting original narratives and texts derived from her own emotions. She seamlessly integrates these narratives into her fashion designs, often imbuing her garments with functions and meanings beyond mere clothing.
Yuhan Cheng works and lives between Chengdu and New York. From non-fiction to auto-fiction, they utilize photographs and film as their primary mediums. Cheng focuses on the fluidity of identity construction and investigates how the social environment mirrors self-identity.
