In memory of legendary Tatar singer/songwriter Zulya Kamalova’s tragic passing last September, today’s episode of One Belt, One Rage 一帶一怒 will celebrate Zulya’s incredible catalogue, with a carefully selected mix of Zulya’s songs by her husband, Andrew Tanner.
With the mix, we travel through Zulya’s diverse artistic journey, with the Tatar-inspired jazz with her band The Children of the Underground, her renditions of Russian folk classics, her recent explorations of Tatar futurism and much more. As a musician and person, Zulya’s was a true adventurer, and this mix encapsulates Zulya’s constant musical and cultural exploration that culminated in her work.
