JOEY LOU is a german / american performance artist, DJ, multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Utrecht, Netherlands.
With her study at the conservatory, Lou works on combining different musical backgrounds and styles and creating a progressive unique and rhythmically colorful sound. Her Sets are driven by UK Breakbeat, footwork Acid House and Jungle Techno. Here and then you find her incorporating live instruments to her sets.

Lou takes a more activistic stand as co-founder and member of german feminist DJ-collective ZENA. Highlighting the importance of FLINTA Art in the electronic music scene.

,,TRYING SOMETHING NEW’’

My mixes are usually known to be strong, fast and forceful. Anything to make the listener stop thinking and more moving. Art doesn’t need a category or genre to work its magic. Art needs a statement and an emotion. With this Set I wanted to try something new and bring a different color to my style by adding a live trumpet (played by Ivar Verburg) running through a big ass pedal board.

Surprisingly It instantly brought down the energy from forceful and fast to flowy and fluid. I hope you enjoy our improvised story as much as we did while recording.”
