While thousands of Ukrainian artists are fighting and dying at the front from the guns of ruian soldiers, ruian musicians are performing in European clubs. While Ukrainian musicians donate every last penny of the money earned at the events, ruians receive grants and live in 5-star hotels in Paris. While Ukrainian musicians suffer from depreion and cannot find the strength to write music again, ruians receive studios in Europe to write new albums. While Ukrainian artists and musicians are dying from ruian missiles and their voices will never be heard, ruians are playing on European radios. The ruian empire is trying to destroy its former colony – Ukraine, but other former empires continue to broadcast the voice of the empire, the voice of death, the voice of genocide.

Odesa is a huge Ukrainian city on the shores of the Black Sea, where about 1 million people live. The city has a centuries-old history, rich cultural life and is distinguished by unique architecture, and the historical center of Odessa is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage. However, none of this matters to the Russians. Since spring, Odesa has been subject to constant missile attacks from the sea, and last month also from Iranian kamikaze drones. The city, which was usually overcrowded with tourists on warm days, turned into a fortress in constant anticipation of rocket attacks and the arrival of invaders. And after each attack, the streets of the city burst with the sounds of ambulances, covering the usual sounds of the sea and seagulls. And together with the change in the city, the music of the local underground was also transformed, responding to the challenges of the times, and reflecting these dark times.

All happening in Ukraine is really traumatic for every citizen, each experience is unique and incomparable. Art and especially music is salvation and healing for us, cause it can express and reflect thousands of shades of anger, pain, and despair… as well as faith, hope, and even drive, which we need every day to sustain our spirit, to fight on the battlefield or in everyday life.
@musicians_defend_ukraine foundation is fundraising money for Yevhen Honcharov whose roof was destroyed by russian missile a week ago. Please donate if you can via the page https://gofund.me/1d812977 or PayPal iryna.lobanok@gmail.com

On, August 24, Ukrainians celebrate one of the most important dates in their history, the day of the declaration of independence of Ukraine. For 31 years we have been walking our own path. However, for one terrorist state, our independence has become like a bone in the throat. On February 24, 2022, the heroes of today’s episode, residents and natives of Donbass, met the war for the second time. Some of them lost their homes and relatives again and were forced to start life from the very beginning, relive this pain, and reflect it again in their music.
If you want to support artists of Donbas, you can donate to @gareleya.neotodryosh , they provide financial support to artists who find themselves in difficult life circumstances as a result of the war. PayPal: gareleyantd@gmail.com

Since the beginning of the war, the terrorist state Russia has launched about 3,000 missiles over Ukraine. Only today, July 19 – the day I am writing this message, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, Odesa and Kharkiv regions were attacked. Up to 40 rockets were fired at Nikopol, the city I was born in. And this is not the end of the list. How much blood of Ukrainians must be spilled so that the world finally changes and this rocketfall stops?
Thousands of Ukrainian men and women are now at the front, defending our freedom. Every day they have to risk their lives. In such conditions, medical assistance is extremely important. High-quality first-aid kits are always needed at the front, when every second counts. This is what the “United” fund is doing. The goal of the fund is to provide our defenders with 5,000 first-aid kits. You can find details for donations on their website united.if.ua

Siren is a signal of danger, a sign that war is still not over, that we still have to fight for our freedom. Closer to the frontline, you may hear explosions and shelling – signs that death is walking near to you. This is how Kharkiv has been sounded since the first days of war. Through music, the city’s artists transform these alien sounds of war into sounds of rage and self-healing. This music and their stories should be heard all over the world to push this world to change for the better and help us stop this flow of russian rot.
Ordinary people, who were civilians yesterday, are now wearing military uniforms and defending their homeland with weapons in hand. The 247th Kharkiv Territorial Rifle Battalion @247_tro takes part in the defense of the Kharkiv district and its inhabitants. To perform its duties, the battalion always needs different types of equipment: walkie-talkies, tents, clothing… You can find more information about the battalion, their needs and details on the website 247tro.com . Remember: every $ 10 for military needs will save $ 100 for humanitarian needs in the future.

New episode of the AIR RAID SIREN podcast is a kind of music journey by the streets of Podil – a district of Kyiv that is a cultural heart for many local artists. And even now art is being created there. In this podcast, the sound producers and musicians of the capital will share with you their musical feelings and personal reflections on this fucking war that russia bring to our lands.
Every Ukrainian right now, even a musician, is a soldier, because sound is a powerful weapon. But some of them hold on their arms real weapons and instead of making music, they are defending our freedom, creating a new history. And they constantly need equipment, armor, medicines, which is the focus of the @musicians_defend_ukraine organization. I ask you to financially support this fund so that our music defenders can win sooner, come back alive and write new music: lesikpoe@gmail.com
