Hounds of Pamir: Ruhail Qaisar invites SKYLA – 05/11/2021

Hailing from Amman, Jordan, SKYLA is a multidisciplinary producer and vocalist as of new. Her first EP, EL WA7L, debut on Xquisite Releases London last April, with the sole signature embodied as a smoky haphazard auditory mirror of the seemingly violent and dreamlike sequence of scenes from real time life or heavy memory banks, stitched together with vast plasticity in method to represent defining moments encountered, yielding both polluted ambient and feverish industrial interpretations. Her untethered space is meant to be emotionally accurate, not sensible.

Hounds of Pamir: Ruhail Qaisar invites Emma Acs – 01/10/2021

Denmark’s Emma Acs has been crafting melodious pop songs since she was 18 years old growing up within Copenhagen. Embracing the otherworld aspect of the pop realm while providing an underground sensibility to what some would deem to be a polished artform. Sparse atmospherics combined with Acs’ sultry vocals allows her to develop a style endowed with cinematic movements.

Acs released 2020’s While I Shoot From My Fortress of Delusions, an album that highlights growth within her writing. There is a darkened tone that speaks to the fading promise of youth amid a wash of sequenced synths, sorrowful saxophones, and a haunting theme of isolation. Acs explores her identity through a meld of influences that pulls from jazz to hip hop, erasing genre boundaries to build a world of her own. Her group consists of various musicians from across the Copenhagen scene, including Marching Church and Pardans – Ida Duelund (bass) Bo Høyer Hansen (guitar) Daniel Hilden Honore (saxophone) Oskar Dinesen (drums) & Nils Gröndahl (violin).

A prolific artist, Acs continues to delve into various musical side projects such as her EBM duo Evil House Party, featuring Jacob Formann. She’s also lent her voice to recent singles for Ecstasy In Order and Darcy Baylis. Before completing her largest undertaking by composing a piece entitled Prey Upon A Symphony for a 50-piece orchestra in cooperation with bandmate Ida Duelund.

Through it all, Emma Acs connects through an adept sense of vulnerability and fragile moments that we tend to overlook amid the continued waves of turbulence that confront us daily.

Dead Inside Podcasts Presents: Sounds of a Post Apocalyptic Landscape by Anhedral – 26/03/2021

To every chaotic time, there lies a moment of peace and still. We hope to convey that emotion in such un-precedented times to motivate others who are struggling with their ongoing battles for hope. For the next episode, we have invited Anhedral, a Singaporean ambient artist and soundscape designer to deliver his interpretation of a post apocalyptic landscape.

Artist Description:

After a long hiatus from various bands and a minor surgery twined him into an extensive rest, a simple project by Roystan Tan (Singapore) started off, just to truly understand what can be done with just simple sounds coming around his bedroom. His initial purpose was just to explore how independent notes, chimes and echoes could be orchestrated into wide, large array of audio lushness.

Anhedral started off as a simple bedroom play-along during 2019/2020, but currently seems to find his way to the local ambient/soundscape circuit, slowly but surely.

Mix Description:

An apocalypse can be scary, but what falls must rise, and so it did.

Tracklist:
Anhedral – Radio Pan-Pan
Anhedral – Tribute 2104
Anhedral – Untitled I
Anhedral – East Wind
