YENWORLD w/ Tommy Beats, MZA – 04/01/2024

In this month’s transmission from YENWORLD, we welcome beatmaker @tommybeats__ from Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture! He plays an infectious head nod inducing SP-404 live set for us. Heavy soul, jazz, funk samples that range from heavy boom bap beats to mellow vibes. In 2018 he released a beat album under the alias FIDE WOOD and in 2023 he released an EP digitally under @loserrecordsosaka.

Strictly 1-hour of pure hip hop for ya today with MZA closing out and taking it back to the golden era.

Beat maker from Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. He creates BEATs inspired by various events in his daily life. I mainly produce beats from soul.jazz.funk by sampling from records. A wide range of expressions can be made into beats, from boom-bap beats to mellow beats. We provide beats to domestic artists. Released BEAT ALBUM in 2018 under another name (FIDE WOOD). The 2023 EP will be digitally released from Osaka LOSER RECORDS.

YENWORLD w/ Megan, MZA – 02/11/2023

In this month’s transmission from YENWORLD, we have Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based House dancer and DJ, @megan_kt0 with us in the mix! Guaranteed solid grooving beats that will move your feet, this one’s for the four to the floor technicians. Closing the show we got MZA with some quick cuts.

With 15-years experience in house dance and a deep love for house music. Megan hails from Japan and is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She has been teaching house dance and organizing events since 2019. One of the signature house dance jams Megan hosts is called “Rumah Terbuka,” which translates to “Open House” in Malay and house-music only party, “Soulscape”. Even though the event was small in scale, it was a full house on the day and turned out to be a great party!

A trusted confidant with close ties to the LA beat scene she has made appearances on programs such as BEATCINEMA, Free The Robots’ NTS RADIO show and Daddy Kev’s Scenario to name a few.

As curator/host of dublabjp’s LOSER RADIO she has hosted numerous local and international beatmakers through her program. Even hosting in-store events at her shop, @loserstoreosaka, with recognisable names like RAS G, Machine Drum, MNDSGN, Sofie and Daedalus having made appearances over the years. In 2020 she began @loserrecordsosaka, where she continues to release essential music by local and international beatmakers!

音楽とウエアを取り扱うセレクトショップ”LOSER” のオーナー。DJ。

現在まで、2005年～06年ヒップホップレーベル Beta Bodega Coalition、Projectmooncircle とのEUツアー、ポルトガル美術館やベルリン、スペイン等でオリジナル作品展示/djで同行。 2010年代初頭からこれまで数々の現地ロサンゼルスdublabでのdj配信をはじめ、2017年RAS GやFree The Robots、FUZZOSCOPE 等の協力の元、BEATCINEMA や POOBAH RECORDS をはじめとしたアメリカ各地でDJツアー公演。 2018年 TEEBSがホストする「V I E W P O I N T S」ラジオ番組でも彼女のDJが紹介される。2019年 カセットテープレーベルFUZZOSCOPEによるツアー in Californiaに参加。SF公演やLAにてレコードストア FAT BEATS でのインストアイベントやSFのラジオ局 Fault Radio のLA配信でも現地でDJ。SF や 台湾や沖縄で LOSER RADIO 配信ツアーを主催し、自身が主催するZINE展をカリフォルニアでも開催。そして2021年LAのビートコレクティブパーティBEATCINEMA Twitch TV配信番組でのDJ出演や、同年 Free The Robots の番組 NTS RADIO/LA でのDJ出演。2022年現地LAにて BEATCINEMA 公演に在米中3度の出演を果たし、オークランドで今話題の LOWER GRAND RADIO にて、現地から生放送出演や、Daddy Kevのパーティ “Scenario” でのDJ出演等活動は多岐に及ぶ。

彼女の店 “LOSER” ではRas GやMachine Drum、MNDSGN やSofie、Daedelus をはじめ数々の国内外 DJ/Beatmaker によるインストアライブも開催。 2020年LOSER RECORDSを始動。
