This month we welcome prolific chiptune producer, @droidon from Brazil now residing in Japan. Part of netlabel Chippanze, he has been featured on radio Metanol, BBC Late 3, Balamii and MTV Brazil. Having performed in recent years at venues like @metro_kyoto, @odd_tape_duplication and Square Sounds Festival 2018. He’s put together a special live set for us tonight with his weapons of choice and trusty video game machines.

Droid-On Profile:

The project began in 2008, Brazil, playing electronic music with unusual tools as: Famitracker, a Nintendo sound emulator, and later, LSDJ for the Game Boy, Littlepiggytracker for the Dingoo/Psp and Nanoloop for the Game Boy Advanced.

As described, the weapons of choice are portable, obsolete or demi-obsolete video game devices. In 2009, the project joined forces with Pulselooper, Hypnodrive (former Subway Sonicbeat), Escaphandro and Ghouls’n Eggs to start a local collective netlabel called Chippanze. The label is a platform designed to spread brazilian chipmusic throughout the world, but it gained more traction gathering international artists releases, such as: Ralp (Spain), Chalices of the Past (UK), D_strct (US), Analog (Chile), PSS-270 (Poland), Thethethes (Mexico), Stress_TN (Russia)…as well as promoting local artists: Pixelfire, The industrialism, Fuzzy, Reset Sound System, Sukairobotto, Michtz…

The collective label organized some local parties, like NULLBITS (featuring Minusbaby from 8bitpeoples, and many local artists). It lasted two editions, and later on the collective continued with more intimate small parties. In Japan (current residence), The project performed at 1h1d! 10th anniversary (Club Metro, Kyoto), Square Sounds 2018 (Koenji High, Tokyo), along with many japanese key artists, such as Chip Tanaka, Hally, DJ Master Kohta, Quarta330 and Yokemura (YMCK).

Influential in the underground Brazilian scene having played at Rua Do Bass, B-Club and Nujazz No Parque. While also clocking in mixes for Debri.fm (Russia) and Dirty Break (Spain).

In 2022, she released her debut EP through DNBB Records titled “Midnight Birds”. Luxiie continues to grow and work to bring the music she believes in to more people believing strongly in being a symbol of female representation.

Luxiie is the first music producer and DJ of Drum And Bass in the state of Minas Gerais – Brazil, becoming a pioneer among women in this style. Born and raised in Ponte Nova, in the country-side of Minas Gerais, she moved to Belo Horizonte to deepen her studies in music, especially in the area of recording and musical Production. Multi-instrumentalist, music producer, composer and also DJ, has a very broad musical experience. On stage, the artist has already played at parties and events that have a great influence on the brazilian underground scene, such as Rua Do Bass, B-Club and Nujazz No Parque. In 2019 performed in downtown Belo Horizonte during the Virada Cultural BH. Also participated in some projects such as Boiler and Bass, Programa Junto e Mixado from Rádio UFMG Educativa, Lablive, Drum In Braz Podcast, besides having a mix on Debri.fm (Russia) and at Dirty Break (Spain). Enigmatic & esoteric Belgium-based Producer and DJ. Her sets range from playing colorful, eclectic music to playful tunes and hard-hitting tunes.

Cementing her place in the music scene by being part of Singapore’s most notorious electronic underground label “Darker Than Wax,” UNOS’ music transcends people onto dance floors and puts them into a trance. She released earlier this year her first EP titled Boodle Fight.

She had the pleasure of sharing the decks with influential artists such as CC:DISCO!, Cinthie, Shy-One, Jamie Tiller, Dan Shake, DJ Boring, Baltra, DJ EARL, Marco Weibel, Lefto, Ricky Razu, Dean Chew, and ALiA.
