Tragic Rave MIRA新伝統 w/ Diana Azzuz – 09/08/2021

Diana Azzuz (1992) is an artist combining different media in her work. Her background manifests and has trails in every oeuvre she works on. Philosophy studies with her master’s focusing on the social and cultural analysis of the concept of photography led her to a deeper interest in digital art.

She has always been keen on writing music, but it’s only recently that she had her first project, Sui Noxa (2020), an audiovisual collaboration with her friend Rina Priduvalova, released on Standard Deviation, followed by a debut EP Anastrophe (2021).

Both musically and visually, she explores the vibrant propagation of the notion of renascence on a macro and microcosmic forms of being. Her work is characterized by meticulous investigations of self-articulation and self-manifestation within various forms of spaces.

Ana Roman is a AI Artist, Producer, Music Visualization and Hybrid-DJ artist. They are the founder of Fokus Global.

Roman has been developing as an AI Artist with a specialization in generative art for her projects under the alias SKULPTOR. They work with artificial neural networks and in the process of launching music visualizations projects with Touchdesigner for both digital fashion and film.

Musically, her live performances feature a hybrid of analog modular, granular, polysynths, MIDI, drum machines, sequencers, and they revisit the piano in songwriting for other singers. Constantly producing their own evolving body of work, Roman breaks down music styles (electronic, breakbeat, techno-industrial, ambient-symphonic, and neuro-funk) and reconstructs them into a hyper-future space that’s violently emotional, flexxed-up, yet meditative.Right now Roman’s busy producing an arsenal of new tracks and is garnering new success with her label/creative house FOKUS GLOBAL.

For this episode, MIRA 新伝統 @__m_i_r_a___ receive Elin McCready @elin.mc , researcher, and professor of Semantics and Linguistics at Aoyama Gakuin University and co-founder of the WAIFU @waifu_party queer parties.

She will give us a talk during the first part of the show. Questioning the notion of freedom while taking us through her journey in Japan and the difficulties she encountered being a trans woman in the current political situation as well as the conservatism that still exists in some part of the local LGBT community.
