XAN w/ Gao Xiao Gao – 17/01/2024

Gao Xiao Gao, a Taipei-based independent singer- songwriter, DJ, writer, and figure model from Taiwan, is a dynamic force in the music scene. Originally the lead vocalist of the punk band White Eyes, deeply influenced by Riot Grrrl culture, she embarked on a solo journey in 2022 with the launch of her independent label Soft Pussy. Evolving into a Punk Enchantress, Gao Xiao Gaos new musical venture showcases her potent female empowerment energy, with a focus on womens rights and the LGBTQ community. Her music spans a range of genres, including Art Pop, Indie Dance, and Alternative Rock.

Her works predominantly explore themes of female sexuality, desire, and fantasy. She has released singles such as “Love Is Punk, Pisces, and Fetishized, along with the EP Erotica, which was nominated for the Best EP at the 2023 Singapore independent music awards (FMA).

過去曾是白目樂隊以性感燃燒舞台的龐克暴女主唱，跨入2022年成立獨立廠牌「Soft Pussy」，昇華為龐克妖女，作品以女性情慾視角出發的性與幻想為主，目前已發行單曲<我心龐克>、<双魚>、 <她是戀物的>、EP《色氣》（入圍2023新加坡獨立音樂獎FMA最佳EP），曲風橫跨 Art POP、Indie Dance、另類搖滾。

Hounds of Pamir: Ruhail Qaisar invites Ghoul of EXHUMATION – 02/04/2022

Yoga “The Ghoul of Exhumation” is an Indonesian musician based in the cultural city Yogyakarta.

Ghoul founded Exhumation 14 years ago. The band has released 3 albums. Not only he has devoted his life to death metal, but he is also furthering his musical landscape with a solo ambient project “KaliYoga” which has released a  debut album back in the pandemic year 2020.

Ghoul now entered the Watchtower studio in Yogyakarta for Exhumation IV. He has been occupied with otherworldly thoughts to release his very first poetry book.

About the mix:
This particular mixtape is a gateway to delve deeper into the hearts and minds of gifted musicians and artists across South East Asia.

There are countless other amazing gems, apart from the fourteen tracks here. Some will make you wonder why you are only hearing this otherworldly music now.

Ruhail Qaisar invites  Hunter Auzins  , a writer and multi-instrumentalist and the guitarist in post-punk outfit August Auzins based in Sydney, Australia. Tune in for his post punk selections.

Hunter Auzins is a writer and multi-instrumentalist currently based in Sydney, Australia. He’s known for his work as a guitarist in post-punk outfit City Rose and more recently as singer/songwriter for the collaborative project August Auzins. Hunter’s work attempts to find clarity in chaos through a blend of genres and poetic devices. His work shows an obsession with extremities and in particular on highlighting the connections between seemingly contradictory emotional states. 

Hunter Auzins:
I’ve chosen mostly recent post-punk tracks from bands that surround what could loosely be considered a scene here in Sydney. 

I’ve also added a few tracks from the more established Melbourne post-punk scene that I feel has informed me and others in this genre.

Hounds of Pamir: Ruhail Qaisar invites MISS WORLD – 07/05/2021

MISS WORLD is the experimental audio/visual pop project from Natalie Chahal – a London-born, LA-based, Indian musician and director. She released her debut album Keeping Up With Miss World in 2018. She caught the attention of Peanut Butter Wolf with her cover of underground Public Access sensation Roye’L’s “I Found A Girl”. Since, she has collaborated with Ariel Pink, Teddy Geiger and released a duet on Stones Throw Records with NTS DJ Sofie. She is the host of ‘1-800-MISSWORLDINC’ a bi-monthly show on LA’s KCHUNG radio. After directing a slew of music videos, this year she directed her first short film entitled EAT BLOOD – an all-girl, Giallo-inspired horror movie set at the infamous American Apparel mansion in Silverlake, Los Angeles.
