Constantine Skourlis invites Amelie Nilles – 30/03/2022

French composer, DJ and sound artist, Amélie Nilles evolved on the experimental, electronic and jazz scenes in Paris, while she was simultaneously involved in researches about sound spatialisation at the Paris 8 University. Always looking for immersive sound experiences, she collaborates with various artists on 3D sound projects and is currently creating an audiovisual piece for 20 speakers and 360° visual.

Her mixes are boiling, going through experimental music, ambient, breakbeat and dark dancehall. On November 2021, she released her new EP ‘A croqué le fruit étrange’ on Planisphère label, as an introduction to her experimental universe, both dark and pop, unspeakable.

WAVES FROM Harz – 16/03/2022

Its difficult to talk about sound. When we close our eyes and listen, there are no boundaries and as such, what we feel can often not be described with the words we know. Our feelings are unique & different.
There is no word or genre that unites the artists of the label. Putting a word on a style, in order to classify, takes part of the magic away. Instead, what unites us is our passion for sound, dancing with friends and growing together.

Continuing with this same philosophy we present our show WAVES FROM and our third episode from Harz. A distinct minimalistic sound that we hadn’t heard but we love it. We enjoy sharing things that are different, so here we are today.

Sometimes we find inspiration in the words of others as Harz did for this set, “Music has to do with sounds, so we need to find them somewhere and it is preferred to find musical ones. You have two sources for sounds: noises, which always tell you something – a door cracking, a dog barking, the thunder, the storm; and then you have instruments. An instrument tells you, ‘la-la-la-la’. Music has to find a passage between noises and instruments. It has to escape. It has to find a compromise and an evasion at the same time; something that would not be dramatic because that has no interest to us, but something that would be more interesting than sounds like Do-Re-Mi-Fa…” – Pierre Schaeffer

Cybernetic IDM sound design collides with the outer orbits of Footwork like two galaxies in the cosmos.

Footwork is a huge inspiration to SNKLS, as his previous sophiscated releases on ultra-cool labels such as Le French Work and Club Late Music. He produces tunes in which intricate sound design and 808s drum pattern weave in and out of one another, ultimately creating his own planetary footwork system.

Cradled by the releases of Planet Mu, Hyperdub and Warp labels, Bancal produced his first tracks in 2012, following a live trauma in front of DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn. He co-founded Kriegspiel Records, netlabel offering compilations and eps in the juke-footwork style. His last ep, “confusion”, was released in March 2021 on the collective label Le French Work.At the same time, he develops a more personal and instrumental approach. He is preparing his first long format, freeing himself from the sample, a material with which he has worked a lot, but also from the codes of pure footwork. This upcoming album sums up his career and his influences, as diverse as they are, from UK bass music to ambient electronica and hip-hop.
