The Hounds of Pamir: Ruhail Qaisar invites Tegh – 03/09/2021

Shahin Entezami, also known by his stage name “Tegh” is a musician, and sound artist, and practitioner based in Tehran, Iran. Tegh tries to bring new aural experiences to life by using various audio elements and complex soundscapes in his music. These experiences usually manifest his perception of facing new stories, geographies, and different situations. The ways he usually tries to express these ideas take root in Noise, Drone, and Experimental electronic styles and sometimes manifest themselves in the form of electroacoustic compositions.

He has also released albums and singles on labels like Opal Tapes (UK), Zabte Sote (IR), Hibernate Recordings (UK), Dronarivm (RU), Inner Ocean Records (CA), Midira Records (GE), Futuresequence (US), Flaming Pines (UK), Bitrot Recordings (IR) and more.

Also, based on his eagerness to discover the world of other artists he has been involved in many collaboration projects like “Artirial”, “Temp-Illusion”, “Umchunga & Tegh” and so forth.

About the mix
The mix is an interweave of recent music I’ve been listening to, ranging from modern classical to experimental and noise.

Hunter Auzins:

Hounds of Pamir Ruhail Qaisar invites Rana Ghose – 04/06/2021

Rana Ghose is a curator, economist, writer, and filmmaker. He steers REProduce Artists, a collective of artists, organizers, and content creators that produce interventions in non traditional spaces, engaging with music and video in modular, sequential plays – all taking advantage of the aesthetics of spaces as varied as former mills, bakeries, and hotels, while producing them into five hour embedded experiences. His doctoral research was on risk construction in a regulatory context, and the underlying dynamics of how we explore uncertainty with regards to new technologies. The theoretical framework of this research underpins his explorations within live music presentation models and how patronage and sponsorship interact within the uncertainty that pop culture engineering presents. His current focus is building and managing REProduce Live, a live streaming platform inspired by the signature event series he oversees, REProduce Listening Room. He is currently based between New Delhi, India, and Halifax, Canada.

This piece was developed in spurts between June 2019 and May 2021 – a document of an episodic distraction that would unfold while editing video for a variety of deployments and needs. Sparsely woven within are voice messages from anonymous contributors, as sourced from a call for submissions.  The request was to deliver a brief personal take on the emotional landscape of early May 2021 in India, a period that witnessed the height of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in this country.  The choices in music both reflect and juxtapose the state of the nation over this period, as well as these voice messages.  The choices also serve to do neither.

Hounds of Pamir: The Snakes of Skyurbuchan – 08/01/2021

A 60-minute selection of compositions improvised and performed live on a  Moog Model- D

Let this be drawn across the walls of this ark
No messiahs shall appear in surprise

This gyre shall again come to a dim sensation
With the scowl returned to the beholders eye

On strewn paths writhe newborn again
Thier slithering huffs of steam and spit

A still construction of what had lived before,
And a submission to their wild mouthed fits.

Will these whimpers crown the river,
and split seas of sandglass hours

They swallow cold skulls in Pamir Khuhestan
And revile the canine cower

Hear every howl that rings in this glow
For starvation is a knife in the knee

Colder now the mud, berries, and milk
Belched with the blood on the trees

Tonight the hounds reek of strife and spleen
A hunt breathes in every hour.

Simmer the slump of death winter frost
And cast to fresh ice another bone tower.

The Hounds of Pamir: From Pamtzil to Karakash – 04/12/2020

A 60-minute selection of compositions improvised and performed live on a Moog Model- D

“During the long winter, fodder is very difficult to obtain; all the willows about the villages are pollarded, and the leaves together with all the scanty natural herbage, are dried and stored. I believe there is hardly a blade of grass or a green leaf to be met with from November till the end of May.”

The viscous hours of the winter moon glow on the static freeze of Sindh.

Morning sun a mere bauble in the blue and gray

And the apothecaries of tears and milk

wind in the vast spirals to be sheathed in December snow.

The final sneeze of the declining winds.

Woodfire, kerosene, and disease.

Tonight the hounds feast

And in the feral hours of violence

hollow out cows and calves alike.

Cutting teeth at the last supper

Beneath the charnel mounds of Pethup.
